Creative T60 Pregnant Test: Compact, Elegant, Effective

great modernity. History of the sound on PC, Creative has encountered some difficulties with changes in user needs. Today, the manufacturer is more serene with more varied and better integrated ranges to new audio markets. This is how Creative did not hesitate to invade both the world bars as that of Bluetooth speakers. It is precisely the last of this category that we test today. The Creative T60 are offered the luxury of saving it as easily a laptop, a smartphone or a real Gaming PC.

SOBRIANCE AND ELEGANCE

Shortly after the Logitech Z407 test, we chains with another kit dedicated to gaming, but not only. The Creative T60 is based on the same qualities as the product of Switzerland, but do not burn the steps and start with the opening of the kit. Creative effectively protects her baby who, well packaged, has little chance of getting you in poor condition. Inside, we find the two speakers - no subwoofer, we are in the presence of a 2.0 - and several accessories: the sectors specific to each country and the power brick, the cable 3.5 mm (1.2 m), the USB-C cable (1.2 m), a headphone expansion cable (30 cm) and a USB-A USB-C adapter.

At the first look at the speakers, there is something that is wrong without being able to say what: it's very simple, the two satellites are not exactly the same size. The difference is not huge, but surprising despite everything: the left satellite is a little wider. For its part, the right satellite acts as control unit and it is upon him that we connect everything. Thus, we plug the power supply and the connecting cable between the two satellites and then we need to decide the type of connection that you want to use to exploit the T60. It is at this level that, like the Z407 of Logitech, it shows all its versatility.

It is thus possible to connect wireless via the Bluetooth 5.0, but also to use the auxiliary input or, and it is our privileged choice for use with a fixed or portable PC, to connect our little world in USB -VS. Note that cables delivered by Creative, albeit complete, are quite short: 1.2 m, it's perfect for a laptop, less for a Desktop PC. Note, on the other hand, the extremely simple side of this connection: even the complete neophytes will only have a few seconds before having a perfectly operational set. This versatility of the connectivity is to parallel with the aesthetics and size of the product.

Indeed, the absence of bass box and the relatively modest size of the satellites make T60 a kit suitable for most scenarios. We can therefore associate them with different products, but also at different facilities in the office or at home. We regret a little that Creative does not offer a white color to satisfy everyone, but the elegance of the black dress must allow it to adapt to most situations. Creative has been able to stay sober, but in their drawing, the satellites keep a modern side that is flying. The only real regret of design is related to the absence of a remote control or deported control box.

Do not exaggerate the absence of this forgetfulness from Creative to the extent that the compactness of the kit makes that the right satellite controls are never far. It has a large potentiometer for volume as well as three buttons. One for ignition / extinction, a second for activating the surround sound or to pass on the headset / micro - we will come back to it - and a third for the ClearDialog option. Each button has its small LED that can not be disabled, but remains discreet. Frankly, there is not much to blame Creative. Ah if, a detail: the brilliant facade of satellites captures very good fingerprints.

A good rendering, interesting software options / hardware

The multiple connection options of the T60 pushed us to test the beast on different scenarios. We started with the Bluetooth 5.0 mode that proves convenient to connect the smartphone and thus listen to the music of a passing friend for example. It remains possible to use it with a PC - Laptop or Desktop - but we need to highlight a very unfortunate limitation: Creative is content here with the only SBC codec while the bluetooth is capable of much better. The quality of rendering is then handicapped by transmission technology, even if it stays perfectly exploitable, of course.

It is obviously no question of such limitation in USB-C mode and we have been able to enjoy our HD songs to experience the rendering of T60 ... and we are quite satisfied. Of course, it is reason to keep and rendering the bass suffers from the absence of box / size of the speakers, on a piece like the Bad Guy of Billie Eilish for example, the limitations of the product are clearly perceived. However, there is really nothing to feel blurred. We take advantage of a good descent in the graves and the general homogeneity is interesting. The mediums do not have any hollows and treble whisting only very moderately.

The Creative T60 therefore has interesting arguments especially if you limit the space to sound to a small lounge. We will avoid growing the volume too much, but it's not really a surprise on such compact satellites. We will also avoid activating the surround mode: it is of course a question of tastes, but if it actually expands the sound scene, it also tends to make the all much less accurate, more vaporous. Bof. On the other hand, the other options offered by Creative can be quite formidable. The Cleardialog is for example an excellent surprise when listening to a podcast: the voices are then very good, but it is not adapted to the musical listening.

Note that Surround and ClearDialog do not work if you are using a headset ... because it is one of the remarkable strengths of the T60. It has on the back of the jack connection to connect a headset, a microphone or a headset, but it is especially the implementation that is interesting since the Creative software makes it possible to manage everything simply. We move from one device to another with a formidable efficiency: a button on the front allows the rocker and the SmartComm Kit can be activated so that our voice is automatically detected at the slightest word. A Perfect NoiseClean function The table: it removes parasitic noises to keep a good quality of exchanges.

Little sentence punchy that summarizes everything in Caps

On the paper, the T60 could make you think of a kind of little brother inspired by the T100, in practice, it's more than that. If it has been forced to make some concessions, creatively benefited mainly to integrate interesting software new ones with this Cleardialog module for voices that stand out more or the SmartComm Kit for better communications. Alas, the latter is only compatible with Windows 10. Damage for Mac. If it may be a little behind the bass side, the T60 ensures the essentials and offers a balanced audio rendering, without marked fault, provided that you do not close too much. In short, a well thought out product, rich in multiple features and who knows how to stay affordable.
