New World and Elyon come almost at the same time and that's bad

The new MMORPGNEW World from Amazon repeatedly shifted the release term mined just under a month back to the 28.09.2021. The MMORPG Elyon appears only around 24 hours later and that is bad for all.

What happened? New World could over the last few weeks, even through the now ended beta, much anticipation of the players build up. Now the game was moved again. While was originally about a month between the two publications, it is now just under 24 hours. Elyon has only a fraction of the medial attention compared to New World.

Who writes here? Mark has been moving for more than 10 years in the MMORPG genre. He has already gambled several thousand hours in different games on the clock. He did not have a special genre, but played by Flyff over Silkroad to Guild Wars everything he gets in his hands. So above all, he is a fan of variety in MMORPGs.

What do the games have together? Even if both tracks put on other core features, both are in the heart of a MMORPG. The following features await you in both games:

  • Quests, dungeons and world bosses
  • Open-world PVP and more PVP content
  • Player Housing
  • Character Levels
  • Crafting and resources

New World and Elyon so share many core content, even if their main focus is a bit apart.

Who has the nose? You could think that this is just the problem of Elyon. After all, New World is just huge. The beta alone was able to advance with over 180,000 players in place 3 of the Steam charts. The data in Google trends also show that Elyon becomes more likely to pull the shorter in direct comparison to the other coming MMORPGs Lost Ark and New World. Even if the pity would be for many players, as I find.

A failure of Elyon would be bad for the genre

Why that is bad for everyone: In the MMORPG genre currently felt so much, as for years no more and that's good for every MMORPG player. Each new game in the genre enlarges, more or less, the game number of genres in general, what can be able to benefit again, which would like to play multiple titles.

If Elyon actually flops directly to release, this is a loss for the entire genre. The chances of this unfortunately are not so low. Through the, in comparison, anyway already low interest in the game could become New World for Elyon, which was the iceberg for the Titanic - the downfall.

So there is less successful MMORPGs on the market, the market itself is smaller. Because diversity is important in every genre and leads to the revival, to exchange and thus also to improve the existing titles, as I find.

A revival of the genres is therefore good in my opinion at any extent. Even if I can do little with mobile games, I am pleased about every new mobile MMORPG, which is announced. Because that means that my beloved genre gets a new target group, which maybe sometime is bock on the MMORPGs I'm just games. Then I can be happy because it goes better my favorite MMO and it attracts more new players.

It is said that New World could harm Elyon in the long run. If you want to play many players who actually wanted to play Elyon, but prefer to play New World, of course, that's good for Amazon, clear. But I think here a few steps further:

Has Elyon success and New World less than expected, Amazon has to think something to have more success with her game again. This can lead to more innovation, more new mechanics, more cool approaches. This is especially good for a party, namely for us - the players.

If New World does not need to think new, innovative things, because they have only a few competitors, the players of New World will eventually boring. Thought for a long time, New World could actually do not even please to displace Elyon.

What do you think of the two games? Which of the two interest you anymore? Will you play Elyon, even though you are looking forward to New World? Write it in the comments!

Our editor Alexander Leitsch has already played Elyon for a long time and says, "There is no flop, but no huge hit."
